Should employees use mobile devices and computers at work?

are not very strict when it comes to employees listening to their portable media players while at work. Employers also do not mind employees making personal phone calls as long as they are making the calls using their own mobile phones. Other employers actually do not mind employees making personal phone calls using the company's phone. A few employers allow employees to plug personally owned computers into the company network. Some people say that employees should be allowed as long as the employer implements security measures . They claim that it is not possible to prevent employees from bringing mini portable media players and for that reason, the company should expect any outcome. Many companies have now resorted to close and critical examination on such practices . They claim that the devices make the stealing of data inevitable as the devices can be joined to workplace computers and backups of fundamental company data made to the devices . Some employees have gone to the extent of confisticating employees computers and mobile devices if they are caught using them at the workplace. The rules have been found difficult to implement despite employers policies disallowing such devices.

  • Should employees be allowed to use their personal devices and computers at work, why or why not?
  • Is it even possible for employers to keep all personal electronics out of the office ?

Are Word processing programs making students lazy?

Word processing programs allow users to create and manipulate documents containing mostly text and at times graphics. Word processing is able to correct grammar mistakes as well as wrong spellings. Documents can be automatically formatted. Cited work in a document can be referenced in an appropriate way. Some educators believe that the rapid increase of word processing automation is depriving students of the fundamental ability to think and work for themselves. Students no longer put the extra effort of checking for the correct spellings in the dictionary as well as reading novels to acquire correct grammar and vocabulary. A research was made and it is said that the quality of the student's written work without word processing software is now dismal ever since the software became prominent. Opponents of using word processing software for assignments indicate the quality of instant messages and email is markedly extreme than works written with the help of modern word processing programs. Supporters of the use of word processing system for educational purposes say that it should continue to be in use now and in the future. They say it saves time rather than teaching students less modern tactics. Students can therefore focus on the topics and become more productive instead of worrying about spelling errors.

  • Are word processing programs making students lazy? why or why not?
  • Do students need the ability manually to check spellings and grammar, format a document and reference cited works in a document, in the same way that students still learn multiplication of long division ,why or why not?

Should you trust a wiki for Academic Research?

A wiki is a collaborative website where people work together and users are allowed to add to, create ,delete, or modify the website content via their web browser. The most common wiki is wikipedia , a free web encyclopedia. Wikis have become very common and they have multiplied in size and in number. However academic institutions and librarians have disregarded the sites as unsuitable for research purposes. This is because anyone is free to post their information which may be biased information as well as narrowly-defined specialised topics. A number of wikis have qualified editors and they also try to limit the number of contributors but there is stil no guarantee of getting information that is free from bias or information that is fully detailed. One of the largest wikis such as wikipedia has got a big number of unknown editors. Recently John Lennon and Elvis Presley's entries on wikipedia where invaded with the intention of wanting to find out how quickly corrections were made. Editors were quick to correct information. In other cases, rival political factions falsified wiki entries with the intention of giving their candidate an advantage.

  • Should wikis be allowed as valid sources for academic research, why or why not?
  • Would you submit an assignment to your tutor or lecturer that sites a wiki as a source?

How often should you be monitored in public locations?

With the world's increasing technology, programmers have come up with a unique method of recognition called biometric face recognition whereby your face can be recognised by a computerised machine and one can be allowed to enter a premise or access certain things. One of the latest Dell laptops uses face recognition as a form of identification to confirm user. Some premises such as the gymn, library and workplace uses face recognition as a form of identification for registered members. The law enforcement such as the police is however using this facility to their own advantage At large sporting events or other big events which are attended by a lot of people, the police is now using the face recognition system to allow entry and by doing this, they are given the opportunity to trace criminals. Those people who match with known criminals are detained. The face recognition system is also being implemented in streets to scan everybody who walks by. People who support the face recognition system are saying it does not waste a lot of time in trying to trace the criminal therefore the police can channel their efforts on other issues. On the other side, opponents of face recognition system view it as violation of privacy. In some cases innocent people have been detained because the systems are imperfect.

  • Would you mind constant monitoring by face recognition systems?
  • How would u react if you were detained due to a mistake made by a face recognition system?

The brain's 100 billion cells are efficient when both halves of the brain are in partnership. The left half called the judicial mind controls logical and reasoning tasks whilst the right half also known as the creative mind interprets and gives meaning to stimuli. Building positive brain skills is the key to achieving proffessional and personal success therefore many blogs contain exersises and research on moulding the right brain. Blogs let bloggers discuss and share what they have read so that the blogger makes posts and people may read and comment on what they also think about the discussed issue. Therefore people , you are most welcome to read and comment on my blog!
